The British Council is pleased to invite applications from English language teachers in the Western Balkans for a partial scholarship to attend the IATEFL 2027 International Conference. This scholarship supports educators from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia by covering key costs to facilitate their participation and professional growth.

IATEFL 2027 Conference Details

The 60th IATEFL International Conference and Exhibition will be held in Birmingham, United Kingdom, from 6 to 9 April 2027, with pre-conference events on 5 April 2027. More details can be found at: IATEFL International Conference 2027.

Scholarship Coverage

The partial scholarship includes:

  • IATEFL 2027 conference attendance fee
  • Round-trip airfare to and from the UK
  • UK visa application costs and associated administration fees

Accommodation, local transport, meals, and other personal expenses will be the responsibility of scholarship recipients.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be English language teachers, other subjects’ teachers and educational professionals from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia)
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to professional development and contribution to the teaching community
  • Have a strong command of English sufficient to participate fully in the conference
  • Show the ability and motivation to apply the knowledge and skills gained at the conference to benefit their local teaching context

Application Process

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (in English)
  2. Personal statement (max. 300 words) describing:
    - Your motivation for attending the IATEFL 2027 Conference
    - How this scholarship will support your professional development
  3. Impact statement (max. 300 words) describing:
    - How you plan to apply the knowledge and skills gained at the conference to benefit your local teaching community
  4. Letter of recommendation from your employer or an equivalent professional organisation
