Autostrada Biennale marks its tenth anniversary with its fifth edition, Unfolding Currents: The Pulse of Time, curated by Erzen Shkololli.

Taking place from 5 July  to  5 October, 2025, the exhibition brings together newly commissioned and reimagined works by artists from diverse generations and geographies, engaging with the historical, political, and architectural layers of Prizren.

The biennale unfolds across key heritage sites including the Archaeological Museum and Clock Tower, Shani Efendi House, Dorambari Family House, and Gazi Mehmed Pasha Hammam. These venues, deeply embedded in the city’s urban fabric, foster direct encounters between contemporary artistic practices and Prizren’s complex past.

A central site is the Autostrada Hangar—Center for Contemporary Art—located in the Innovation and Training Park, a former military zone now transformed into a year-round hub for exhibitions, residencies, education, and dialogue.

This edition features a compelling lineup of artists whose works reflect on presence and disappearance, legacy and ephemerality. Through its expansive program, Autostrada Biennale continues to shape cultural memory and foster long-term engagement with the local and international art community.

Collaboration between the British Council and Autostrada Biennale will bring British contemporary artists Nathan Coley and Hassan Khan to the 5th edition of the Autostrada Biennale. This partnership not only highlights the UK's cultural environment but also promotes meaningful cultural exchange between the UK and Kosovo, in line with the British Council's mission to promote global dialogue and support the development of international collaborations in the arts.

Nathan Coley, a Glasgow-born artist, has gained international acclaim for his conceptual work, which often explores themes of space, society, and cultural identity. His contribution to the Biennale will be his light installation, I Don't Have Another Land, located at the former military base, now the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren. This site-specific installation reflects both Coley's artistic vision and Prizren's rich, multi-layered heritage. Through his engagement with local stakeholders and exploration of the city's key architectural landmarks, Coley brings a deeper understanding of Kosovo's cultural context to his work.

Hassan Khan, a multimedia artist and musician, uses choreography, sound, video, and performance to explore complex narratives of identity, society, and culture. The winner of the Silver Lion at the 57th Venice Biennale, Khan's work has received international acclaim. His participation in the Biennale will further the British Council's focus on artistic excellence and innovation, creating a platform for cross-cultural dialogue through his distinctive multimedia art practice.
