Jakup Ferri has been chosen to exhibit at this year’s Harewood Biennial, which traditionally takes place in the historical surroundings of Harewood House near Leeds in the UK.
Jakup Ferri is a contemporary artist and professor at Prishtina Art Academy, who has focused on making drawings, tapestries, mosaics, and paintings in recent years. He has also conducted extensive research and established enduring collaborative relationships with outsider and folk artists, seeing huge value in their engagement with handmade materials such as carpets, glass, wood and textiles and the locally specific methods for their production.
Create/Elevate is the third Harewood Biennial – taking place from 28 June to 20 October 2024 – now established as the major craft Biennial of its kind outside London. Presented within Harewood House and across its gardens and landscapes, the Biennial showcases the work of international artists, designers and craft collectives, including new commissions. The exhibition will explore the power of craft to surprise, inspire and bring people together and will be accompanied by a dynamic and accessible programme of learning and active public engagement.
Jakup represented Kosovo with great success at the Venice Biennale 2022 with his exhibition The Monumentality of the Everyday.
